Integration

Concept

IT integration, or systems integration, is the act of connecting data, applications, APIs and devices across your IT estate in order to boost efficiency, productivity and agility.

IT integration, or systems integration, is the act of connecting data, applications, APIs and devices across your IT estate in order to boost efficiency, productivity and agility.

Integration lets all the pieces of an IT environment work together. It is therefore a key part of any business transformation — its ability to adapt to a changing market.

Integration goes beyond just connecting things — it adds value. By linking the features of multiple systems, it can unlock new capabilities.

Not to be confused with continuous integration, a development practice where developers merge working code versions into a shared central repository several times a day.

The goal of continuous integration is to automate the creation and verification of new versions in order to catch errors early and accelerate development.
