Data
Talked about endlessly since the dawn of the digital era, data is the new black gold — if not the new blue gold.
Talked about endlessly since the dawn of the digital era, data is the new black gold — if not the new blue gold. Data is everywhere. We all generate data every day when we use a digital service: a WhatsApp message, a Google search, an online payment, a new video on a social network — even just visiting a web page without clicking.
A piece of data is a recorded piece of information that can be retrieved and traced back. Whether it lives in the cloud or on a computer, it is stored on hardware such as the hard drive of your PC or the server of a datacenter on the other side of the world.
Used mainly in the big-data world (the study of large data volumes), it is collected and stored in companies by Data Engineers so it can be used and valued by Data Scientists and Data Analysts.
