Developer Advocate / DevRel

Role

The Developer Advocate (or DevRel, for Developer Relations) is a hybrid profile sitting at the intersection of engineering, product and marketing.

The Developer Advocate (or DevRel, for Developer Relations) is a hybrid profile sitting at the intersection of engineering, product and marketing. Their job is to represent developers internally and to represent the product to the developer community.

They write technical content (docs, blog posts, samples), speak at conferences, run communities (Discord, Slack, GitHub), gather user feedback and bring it back to product and engineering.

The role is central for API, SDK and developer-tooling companies (Stripe, Vercel, Anthropic, Resend, Supabase…), where adoption hinges heavily on the quality of the developer experience.
