The Platform Engineer is an engineer dedicated to building and evolving an Internal Developer Platform that acts as a self-service environment for product teams to ship their applications: deployment, observability, security, secrets management, environments, CI/CD.

Platform engineering is an evolution of DevOps: rather than waiting for each team to build its own tooling, you invest in a central team that treats the platform as a product, with users (the developers), a roadmap and success metrics (DORA, lead time, deployment frequency…).

A fast-growing role in 2026, with a dedicated ecosystem (Backstage, Port, Humanitec, Crossplane).
