Ladies of Code Interview: The women's tech community

Ambroise BréantMay 23, 2022

Tech is still today a very male sector! Here are some figures to better understand the place of women in the tech world.

Proportion of women in tech

"Bringing more women into tech, web development, and computing": that's the goal Ladies of Code has set for itself.

In 2018, we welcomed Laïla and Mathilde to our offices, both members of the Ladies of Code community. This international community of more than 800 people, created by two Parisians in 2017, organizes meetups to attract different types of women — like students or beginners — by introducing them to programming. They organize events and conferences around career change, involving experienced female developers who share their experiences.

This gathering of women also strongly attracts professionals seeking a supportive community where they can thrive, meet people, and build a network — particularly to help with their job search. Ladies of Code also offers pro female developers more technical workshops for their tech watch and to exchange and share moments outside of work.

"Bringing these talented women developers out of the shadows"

Workshops around personal development are also organized to help women gain confidence in this very male environment and feel legitimate in their work.

Ladies of Code's advice to those who want to get into tech: "Persevere, stay yourselves, no matter the image people attribute to you, and above all have fun!"

Yes, you have to practice and stay curious — but with pleasure!
