Django

FrameworkTech

Django is an open-source web framework written in Python.

Django is an open-source web framework written in Python. Its goal is to make web application development simple and based on code reuse.

Built in 2003 for the local newspaper of Lawrence (Kansas, USA), Django was released under the BSD licence on 1 July 2015. Since 1 June 2008, the Django Software Foundation has overseen its development and promotion.

Alongside this ongoing work, conferences between developers and users — DjangoCon — have been held twice a year since 2008, one in Europe and one in the United States. Several mainstream sites are now built on Django, including Pinterest and Instagram (at least as of 2011) and Mozilla.
