What’s the opportunity?

As a Software Engineer in ZettaScale you will be working on some of the world most advanced and high-performance data sharing and storage technologies. Our products are powering applications such as, Inter-continental Routers, Air Traffic Control and Management, Human-Driven and Autonomous Racing Cars, and Ultra-Large Telescopes. You will also have a chance to work with a team of world talents to disrupt existing cloud centric-architectures and bring every connected human and machine the unconstrained freedom to communicate, compute and store — anywhere, at any scale, efficiently and securely.

What will I be doing?

Our teams are organised as a Symphonic Orchestras, as such, you will be working on a product section, under the guidance of a section master — as part of this section you will design and implement the front-end and tools that are used to provision, monitor, and manage our infrastructure. Depending on your level of experience you will be asked to propose initial design and lead the development of specific tools features.

User experience, visual appeal, responsiveness and reliability and are key differentiators of our technologies, as such, you will be continuously challenged to find the best solution, the most performing solution and the most elegant from a user experience perspective.

You will further collaborate with (1) the test teams to ensure that our software is rock solid and (2) with the customer support team to ensure that we have happy customers.

What skills do I need?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Telecommunication Networks
• 5 years of experience
• Professional experience with modern JavaScript web framework (React, Angular, Svelte etc)
• Experience in writing Web “Native” Applications
• Experience with mainstream Cloud Environments (e.g. AWS, Azure)
• Experience with writing automated tests
• Experience using Git in a professional/workplace environment
• A solid understanding in core web and browser concepts (e.g. how the browser parses and constructs a web page)
• A solid understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts.
• Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment
• Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions
• Experience with performance and optimization problems and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems
• Comfort working in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process
• Working with WebSockets
• Working with REST API's
• Experience with data visualization, using for example d3
• Nice to have: Working with electron or alternatives to produce desktop applications
• Nice to have: Some experience with Python scripting
• Experience in high-performance frontend with CPU and memory usage optimization
